“I am big! Tell me too!”
Her tongue, for seeking
My eyes and ears,
a real Peacock!
Raising her heels,
Coming on her toes,
Like a ballerina,
Stretching her small thin neck,
Transforming into a giant,
She stood tall!
“Single child, she needs company.”
The world yelled in my ears.
“I am big! Tell me too!”
I flew back from my thought,
Curiosity made her a dreadnought.
“It is big people talk, Aaru.”
My attempt was in vain,
Her persistence! Insane!
“I am big! Tell me too!”
She repeated, louder.
I surrendered,
I turned to her,
I looked at her,
I blinked my eyes,
I took a deep breath, kneeled down,
in an effort to grow smaller,
Or rather “BIGGER”.
That’s what it takes,
To become a 3 year old,
To become Aaru.
Hard!
It takes, a burnt sabzi,
missed yoga sessions,
and a cold coffee!
while I explained away
in toddler tongue,
Why car needs petrol,
Her eyes twinkled,
Face brightened,
Her wonderment bloomed
in her impish grin,
A grin of triumphant victory,
My warrior!
Her anklets tinkled away,
A beaming smile on my face
as she sway.
This time travel of mine,
This dual existence,
Dear Daughter,
It is “My Precious”!
